Cinerama - Va va voom
After the Weddoes called it quit, frontman David Gedge started up Cinerama with his then girlfriend in 1998. They released several albums and singles over the next 6 years or so, but only their debut "Va va voom" is notable. It's really a quite excellent Baroque pop record with terrific arrangements. Sort of a Burt Bacharach indie pop record. Features guest appearances by members of the excellent band The Delgados as well as The Church.

Thanks Brent. Haven't listened to all of the Weddoes stuff yet but I do love Seamonsters so far.
ReplyDeleteSo Chad and I took a trip to Chicago one winter break, just for the hell of it. While there we wanted to see a show, pretty much regardless of who it was. So we went to the Empty Bottle and saw Cinerama and The Delgados. It was a good show but I didn't get any merchandise and never really listened to either band again. Thanks for the re-introduction.
